Party Ben
Party Ben is a producer, DJ and radio host in San Francisco, and one of the more notable figures in the mash-up/bastard pop scene.
He is an alum of Bay Area alternative juggernaut LIVE 105 (KITS-FM), where he began making mash-ups and remixes in 1998. From 2003-2006 he produced the weekly Sixx Mixx program on LIVE 105, a half-hour continuous mix of mash-ups and remixes, widely circulated online and eventually syndicated to other California radio stations. He is currently a resident DJ and producer on House Nation on Movin' 99.7 (KMVQ-FM). He was the founding resident DJ at Club Bootie, the award-winning San Francisco mash-up night, and has DJed in many locations in North America and Europe.
Party Ben's most well-known mash-up is 2004's "Boulevard of Broken Songs", featuring elements of Green Day, Oasis, Travis, and either Eminem or Aerosmith. The track received press and radio airplay around the world. In 2005, Party Ben joined forces with Australian Team9 on a full-length mash-up album of Green Day's "American Idiot" under the alias Dean Gray, which received critical acclaim despite a "cease and desist" order from Warner Bros. Records. Other notable Party Ben mash-up tracks include the Snow Patrol/Police combo which received significant attention in the U.K. and Ireland, and the more recent "Single Ladies in Mayberry."
